Welcome to Speculative Futures Philadelphia! We bring together designers, strategists, engineers, scientists, artists and futurists to take part in events and conversations exploring the ethical, environmental, political and economic impacts of future products and services. As the Philadelphia chapter of the Design Futures Initiative, we come to these topics with concern for the local and an eye toward the global.

About Us

Our chapter is just getting started. We intend to host quarterly events, ranging from panel discussions and presentations, to interactive workshops, to structured conversations, and beyond. While we're starting out online, eventually these will be in person.

Speculative Futures Philadelphia was founded in 2022 by Tim Gorichanaz and Sukrit Venkatagiri. Tim is a professor at Drexel University's College of Computing and Informatics; and beginning in Fall 2023, Sukrit will be a professor at Swarthmore College in the Department of Computer Science.

This chapter may have academic connections,
but all are welcome. We hope you'll join us!
